Fair Payment Code Reaches 800 Awardees

Friday 2nd October, 2026

UK Government’s Fair Payment Code operated by the Small Business Commissioner has announced it has reached another milestone: 800 businesses are now signed up.

Every new awardee represents a commitment to fair and responsible payment practices, helping create a better payment culture for small businesses across the UK.

The Fair Payment Code is a tiered system of Awards aimed at driving best practice and improving payment performance. Businesses apply to join at Bronze, Silver or Gold providing evidence of their payment performance and references from partner businesses.

• Gold Award – To pay at least 95% of all invoices within 30 days.
• Silver Award – To pay at least 95% of all invoices within 60 days, including at least 95% of invoices to small businesses
(with fewer than 50 employees) within 30 days.
• Bronze Award – To pay at least 95% of all invoices within 60 days.

The Fair Payment Code Awards are open to businesses and organisations of any size as long as they can provide evidence that they are meeting the Code’s requirements and complying with its principles.
