Jailed administrator given 6 months to pay £132k

An administrator jailed for stealing more than £450,000 from the car dealership that she worked for is to pay back just over £132,000 a judge has ordered.

She was ordered to pay £132,047 in compensation to Edwin May Ltd, Judge Alistair Devlin allowed the 48-year-old six months to pay. If she failed to pay, she would be liable to serve up to five years imprisonment.

She defrauded Northern Ireland based Edwin May Ltd of more than £3,000 every month. She also successfully negotiated a pay rise before her theft came to light.

On charges spanning from 1 February 2008 to 6 November 2019 Smith, she admitted stealing £437,824 from Edwin May Ltd and also abused her position of trust within the car dealership by accessing company accounts to apply company funds to the value of £14,962 in settlement of your personal invoices and car finance repayments.

Four months ago she was handed a three-year sentence, after she admitted abusing and exploiting her position of trust in Edwin May Ltd.
