Government reinstates small business post
Thursday 24th November, 2022
The post of small business minister has been reinstated after a backlash over the scrapping of the title dedicated to promoting their interests according to the Times.
This comes after the role ‘minister for small business’ was removed by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS) during October when Liz Truss was prime minister.
The government has now added ‘Small Business’ to the title of the business minister, Kevin Hollinrake making his full title ‘Enterprise, Markets and Small Business’. Small Businesses have now moved to the top of his responsibilities.
Craig Beaumont, chief of external affairs at the Federation of Small Businesses, said: “At a time when the small business community is under pressure, it's good that BEIS has listened and they can see a minister who's clearly for them.” Reported in politico.
Kevin Hollinrake was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State by the BEIS on 27th October 2022.
