Denmark announces e-invoicing mandate

Wednesday 29th June, 2022

In May, the Danish Parliament passed a new Bookkeeping Act, aiming to mandate all Danish businesses to send and receive invoices electronically.

The new Bookkeeping Act that comes into force on 1st July 2022, requires all companies regardless of size, to issue, receive, process and archive invoices electronically.

Bengt Nilsson, CEO of Pagero said, “We have followed the developments in Denmark and are excited about the expected boost in digital transformation as a result of the mandate. There is a growing trend of government driven digitalisation and we expect to see more of these announcements in the future.”

The timelines for the implementation of the new obligations are dependent on company turnover, with implementation deadlines from 1st January 2024 until 1st January 2026.
