US Starts eInvoicing Standardisation Project Similar to PEPPOL

Wednesday 7th July, 2021

The business payments coalition (BPC) and the US Federal reserve have announced the rollout of a pilot project aiming to establish a standardised B2B electronic invoicing system.

The initiative seeks to establish a standardised electronic invoicing system, similar to PEPPOL

Recently, the BPC achieved a major milestone within the program with successful completion of a proof of concept for a federated registry services model of the US e-invoice exchange framework.

The proposed model is based on a Four-Corner Network Model, where electronic documents can be sent and received through access points that connect users to the network. According to Edicom.

A pilot program is planned for early 2022, to test the exchange of e-invoices between businesses by establishing a secure, open e-invoice delivery framework between providers.
