Six London boroughs agree shared services contract with Capgemini

Six London local authorities have signed a four-year contract with Capgemini UK plc.

The contract is expected to generate cost savings by phasing out older, outdated IT systems, securing economies of scale, eliminating unnecessary paperwork and streamlining processes in areas such as finance, procurement, HR and payroll.

Cornwall councillors approve part-privatisation plan

Councillors in Cornwall have approved plans that could part-privatise some support services as part of a proposed "new strategic partnership".

The decision marks the latest stage in the Council’s proposal to find a Strategic Partner to work with the authority and health partners, including the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust and Peninsula Community Health, to deliver a range of support services.

Metropolitan Police start using the NPIA online procurement system

The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) has started using the National Police Procurement Hub (NPPH), which is intended to save money by reducing the cost of purchases and improve buying power. This makes the MPS the latest force using the Hub. Kent and Suffolk have also recently gone live, and a further 23 forces are working towards being connected.
